The Beginning

The Orlando Chapter was the first chapter of the Central Florida Miracle League. Established in 2001 by founder Kelly Puckett, the league has been a resounding success. Kelly's initial goals were relatively modest, to have a baseball field where children with disabilities could enjoy participating in team sports. It didn't take much time before the league took off. The demand in the community seemed insatiable. It wasn't long before the need for a specialized field was obvious. Through the philanthropy of local individuals, businesses, the City of Orlando, Orange County and Kelly's persistence, the dream was soon realized. Conveniently located at Trotter Park at the intersection of Lee Road and SR 441, the Orlando field is completely handicapped accessible.

About the League

The league accepts children 5-16, though special provisions exist for 17-20 year olds. Every participant will receive a team hat and jersey. Games last approximately one hour. Every child will bat, field and score. We always need volunteers. For information on how to volunteer go to Orlando Volunteer Info.

Most participants feel a real sense of satisfaction as a result of playing in the Miracle League. The games give them something real to look forward to each week. The camaraderie on the field between players and volunteers is satisfying even to the most cynical of onlookers.
