Central Florida Miracle League, Inc.
They Came and We Built It!
The moment the players of the Central Florida Miracle League have longed dreamed has become reality. They are playing on their very own baseball field.
No more struggling to get a wheelchair through dirt - instead the rubber surface provides
players who have physical or mental disabilities, a safe and easy venue on which to play.
"After playing on a traditional ball fields, then coming to our new field - it's night and day.", said league founder and President, Kelly Puckett. "It improved every facet of the game. And for those kids in wheelchairs or walkers, it greatly improved their mobility which allows them to really enjoy the game."
This opportunity was made possible by the generosity of Mr. Bill Demetree, the City of Orlando and the Orange County Field of Dreams program. The Demetree Miracle Field is a partnership between the Central Florida Miracle League, Inc. and the City of Orlando. Each partner was responsible for raising $230,000 and Mr. Demetree's contribution helped the Miracle League attain their portion.
The Demetree Miracle Field is the first of its kind in the state of Florida.
In three years, The Miracle League has grown from a single league to 200 across the United States. It's the fastest growing baseball league for children with disabilities.
